So, this is the largest drawing project I’ve ever undertaken – all-in-all it took approximately 60 hours, but spread over 5 years..
The story goes like this: I started it and spent around 30 hours over 3 weeks trying to finish it, but I put it down for a while and as I progressed with other pieces, I lost track with it. My style of drawing evolved, my understanding of abstract art and the importance of flow within a piece became stronger. As the time went on, the drawing I had started was alien to me and none of the styles that I had learned matched it. So it sat there, gathering dust and the paper yellowing.
Then in 2010 I had an epiphany.. or more like I just desperately wanted to finish the piece. I picked up my pencil tentatively and attacked it.. Nervous of ruining the two thirds I’d already completed by adding “modern Linear Art” to it, I stopped and started, uhm’d and ah’d.. then a breakthrough came and I knuckled down and adapted all of my styles together.
So here it is.. my Magnum Opus – Linear #1.
